More On Last Night's Heartbreaker Told Through The Power of Multimedia

Forget about the stats. They don't matter.

Forget that Thaddeus Young has this uncanny knack to help off of stellar shooters and leave them open in the closing moments of the game.

Forget that Elton Brand only played eight minutes, scored no points and did not leave the bench in the second half.

Forget that this is the second game in a row where the Sixers had a lead late, looked like they could pull it off, but lose it in the end.

Lastly, forget that this team is 23-24.

Why should you forget these things? Because there is more to this game than the stats and the inner details.

This game sums up a city; a city that has only reveled in one World Championship in the past 25 years. To be more specific, it is a city that has only celebrated three World Championships in the past 30 years.

Last night was not new. We've been crapped on before.

We've fallen up short before.

We've witnessed stupid crap before.

We've witnessed our players and heroes get out-manned by opposing players and enemies before.

We've been laughed at before.

Last night was nothing new. It was the story of our lives and until another one of our teams does this:

...it will continue to be the story of our lives.

But hey, this is why we cheer. This is why we're Philadelphians.

" 'Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!' This is a little dramatic Dave perhaps this should have been saved for a playoff loss (knock). Its just 1 regular mid-season loss and i do understand its the Celtics but still.
