Overtime Thrillas For Teams In Phila

As I posted last night minutes after the game, the Flyers won in overtime over the Lightening(I meant Lightning...sorry) 4-3 at the Wachovia Center. It came on a Mike Richard's power play goal. Richards and Jeff Carter both had two goals on the night. This was an absolutely awesome game and fortunately for the league, it was on the Versus Network.

This game featured everything. It had the return of Steve Downie, Mark Recchi and Vinny Prospal. It had Scottie Upshall getting kicked out of the game earlier on a five minute major. It had a crap load of power plays for the Lightening (Once again...meant to say Lightening...sorry). At one point, the Flyers killed off a five minute major (Upshall's penalty) and then a two minute one about a minute or so later. It featured the return of Danny Briere from the injured last. It had great goaltending by both Marty Biron and Mike Smith (do not let the score full you). It had Scott Hartnell making the biggest bonehead move of his career when he flipped his glove at Ryan Malone as he was on a breakaway. Malone was awarded a penalty shot, but Biron was a brick wall and made the save. Finally, like you already know, it had Richie getting the Flyers two points with his overtime goal to send the Wach in a frenzy. Good win by the boys in Orange and Black as they ended a two game losing streak.

Going from the ice to the hardwood, the Sixers were in Chicago last night on the back end of a home and home with the Bulls. After getting embarrassed at home to a mediocre squad, the 76ers got revenge, also winning in overtime 103-95. It looked like in the fourth quarter they were going to blow the lead they had, but they held on and managed to stay in a tie. Andre Miller hit some key shots and free throws in the overtime to collect the win. This ended a four game losing streak.

The 76ers next game is tonight when they host Kobe Bryant and the Lakers at 7 p.m. and the Flyers next game is tomorrow at 7 p.m. when they host those freaking New Jersey Devils.

I think the Celtics will repeat. While the Lakers are up there as well, I think the Celtics are just an overall better team with a couple more weapons than LA.
